The Renault Megane E-Tech electric is now even more of an attractive proposition for car buyers, benefiting from an enhanced specification while also being more affordable than ever.
In addition to its already comprehensive array of standard equipment, the award-winning EV now offers a heat pump on the new highly-specified entry-level evolution version – meaning the entire range now features the energy-saving technology – and a 12-inch screen for the OpenR Link multimedia system is introduced on techno and iconic trim levels.
Both the mid- and top-of-the-range versions now also have contextual adaptive cruise control as standard, enhancing the model’s high levels of safety that are already provided by the availability of up to 24 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems.
Even better, the extra features have had no impact on the cost of the Megane E-Tech electric. In fact, efficiencies within the production process have allowed Renault to lower the OTR price by £500 across the range – ensuring the zero-emissions-in-use crossover is more attainable and better value than ever.
Introducing the heat pump as standard on all versions is a direct result of customer demand. The benefit of the patented heat pump is that the system recovers heat generated by the battery and the electric motor twice as efficiently to ensure optimal temperature for the cabin, whilst simultaneously minimising the impact on range. In use, when the outside temperature drops below 10°C, the range of the Megane E-Tech electric can increase by up to 9%, while maintaining a comfortable temperature inside.
Excess heat is created when the battery and electric motor are under heavy load, such as during rapid recharging or when driving on motorways. This heat, captured by a circuit of pipes that run through the entire battery and motor, is then used to warm the passenger compartment and maximise the vehicle’s range.
As well as the heat pump, standard features across the range include automatic wipers and headlamps, automatic climate control, LED daytime running lights, heated front seats, heated steering wheel and Arkamys audio system. Iconic trim keeps the Harmon Kardon audio system.
The Megane E-Tech electric can cover up to 280 miles (WLTP) on a single charge and the standard 130 kW DC charger makes it possible to recover 186 miles in just 30 minutes. The advanced drivetrain features a 60kWh battery and an electric motor that produces 220hp and 300Nm.
The Megane E-Tech 100% electric now starts from the lower price of £33,995 OTR.
